Few days ago, "People's Daily" (Overseas Edition) published the article "Recalling Luo Zhewen" (the original text "Mr. Luo Zhewen's Contribution to Cultural Heritage Protection", published in Qingyuan Cultural Heritage Official Account).
This article elaborated on Luo Zhewen's discovery of the inscriptions, the content and process of the murals of the East Hall of Foguang Temple during the Tang Dynasty's initial construction, as well as Luo Zhewen's contribution to the protection of Chinese cultural heritage. Since joining the China Institute of Architecture, Mr. Luo Zhewen has been eager to report for the protection of cultural relics in our country, and he has never hesitated. As a witness and witness to the development of cultural relics in contemporary China, he has contributed to the research and formulation of the country's cultural relics protection laws and regulations, the protection theory and practice of ancient buildings, the protection of historical and cultural cities, the protection of the Great Wall, the declaration and protection of world heritage, and the training of cultural relics protection talents, which had a profound impact on the subsequent protection of Chinese cultural heritage.
Luo Zhewen (1924-2012) is a well-known ancient architect and cultural relic protection expert in China. He successively worked in the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Research Office of Cultural Relics Archives, and the China Cultural Heritage Research Institute (currently known as the China Cultural Heritage Research Institute), etc. Dedicated to the research and protection of Chinese cultural heritage throughout his life, he has served as the leader of the ancient architecture expert group of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the honorary chairman of the Chinese Society of Cultural Heritage, the deputy director of the National Committee of Experts on the Protection of Famous Historical and Cultural Cities, the vice chairman of the Great Wall Society of China, and the Forbidden City of China Honorary President of the Society, etc. The main works include "Ancient Chinese Tower", "A Brief History of Ancient Chinese Architecture", "Great Wall Praise" (which has been included in the textbook of the Beijing Normal University version of the primary school), "The History of the Great Wall" and "Chinese Emperor's Mausoleum".
