On June 5, 2020, the final defense and Zhongsheng Award design competition for the Nine Western University of Architecture Teaching Union and the Magazine of Planners(9+1) was successfully held on Tencent conference platform. The joint graduation project is sponsored by the School of Architecture and Planning, Yunnan University. The theme of this event is Urban Characteristic Development in Kunming Wujiaba River Intensive Area, focusing on urban safety, life safety, ecological safety, from the city, landscape and architecture levels. Liu Qibo, Vice-Dean of School of Architecture, Yu Kanhua, Vice-Dean of School of Architecture, Lin Gaorui, dean of Urban Planning and Design Institute, other teachers and 24 students participated in the activity.
From March 6, 2020, to June 5, 2020, this graduate design and competition lasted nearly three months. It came from the construction of 9 universities of Chang'an University, Kunming University of Technology, Sichuan University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwest University, Northwest University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Xinjiang University and Xihua University. About 170 students and 60 instructors from majors of architecture, urban and rural planning and landscape architecture participated in the design activity. The graduate design was divided into three stages: topic opening investigation, mid-term report and final reply. There are 17 architecture groups, 14 urban and rural planning groups and 8 landscape architecture groups participated in the final reply.
The competition invited Chen Yi, Chief Planner of Shaanxi Zhongsheng Planning and Design Research Institute co., LTD, Zhuang Yi, former president of Yunnan Institute of Urban and Rural Planning and Design, Liu Zhian, chief planner of Yunnan Institute of Urban and Rural Planning and Design, and other experts, together with the teachers of the Nine Western Schools to carry on the evaluation for the designs. After fierce competition, the Award Committee finally awarded 5 first prizes, 8 second prizes and 13 third prizes. The Architecture major of our school won the first and second prizes, Urban and Rural Planning major of our school won the first prizes, and Landscape Architecture major of our school won the first and third prizes of the graduation design.
